Arduino is an open source microcontroller and software that allows very easy design of electronic applications. It is increasingly used in science projects for experimental control. This workshop is geared towards anyone who wants to learn how to use the Arduino microcontroller. The workshop covers all basics of the Arduino world to set you up with enough knowledge to get you going independently.
Each class starts with a short lecture on a topic, but the main part is hands-on work with the Arduino. At the start of the first class you will be provided with an Arduino microcontroller and accessories, that you can use for the duration of this course. You will need to bring your own laptop.
No prior knowledge about Arduinos, electronics or programming is required.
Topics that will get covered are:
- how to get started with Arduino
- basics of the Arduino Programming language
- controlling of devices (LEDs, motors, servos, valves…)
- reading information from different types of sensors (light sensors, magnetic sensors, distance sensors…)
- interactive use of the Arduino (LCD Display, remote control, serial interface)
- interfaces to connect hardware (SPI, I2C)
Don’t worry, if you have no idea, what some of these things are. You will learn it in the class.
